Surya Namaskar: A Complete Yogic Practice for Mind-Body Balance
Introduction
The Sanskrit name Surya refers to the sun and the namaskar means salutations which means worshipping the sun . In Yoga the sun represents PINGALA OR Surya Nadi . Surya Namaskar is a complete sadhana by itself as it includes 12 group of asanas Pranayam and its mantras . Also it keeps mental and physical level of energy balanced .
Benefits :
The Practice of Surya Namaskar gives immense benefits . It stimulates all the system of the body . Especially Reproductive , Circulatory , Respiratory & digestive system .
Contradictions :
Though it has many benefits it should not be practiced by people suffering from heart disease high blood pressure . People with severe Back ache , slipped disc , ladies should avoid practice of Surya Namaskar during Pregnancy and at the time of menstruation.
Time of Practice :
The ideal time of practice Surya Namaskar is at Sun rise . The Most Peaceful time of the day During the practice of Surya Namaskar Practioner should synchronize its breath with physical movements .
Note :
Beginners should practice surya namaskar under the guidance of Yoga Instructors.
